We Think Outside the Box, Then Put Great Tomatoes In It
Our Cocktail Tomatoes are bursting with flavor thanks to being kept on the vine until they’re red, ripe and juicy. Eat them as a snack or serve them on a salad. Whatever you have in mind, toss in Cocktail Tomatoes and brighten your meal. Look for our Cocktail Tomato box in the produce section. Inside you’ll find a cluster of sweet, tasty tomatoes picked fresh from Backyard Farms and delivered no further than a day’s drive to your grocer.
More About Our Cocktails
Grown in clusters of 7 to 8 on the vine, Cocktail Tomatoes are a smaller variety of tomato (although larger than your typical cherry or grape tomato), and pack a juicy bite. Their sweet flavor stems from a higher sugar content compared to other larger tomato varieties.
Our Cocktail Tomato box - with its light blue color and white picket fence - is almost as identifiable as the tomatoes themselves. The boxes are printed using soy inks here in New England. Plus they’re made from 100%-recycled paperboard with a minimum of 35% post-consumer content.
Cocktail Fun Facts:
• Cocktail Tomato clusters start out as groups of 12 to 16 flowers. We prune the flowers to 7 to 8 to ensure even ripening of the fruit and to keep the plant in balance.
• Cocktail Tomatoes ripen on the vine starting from the fruit closest to the plant to the fruit at the tip. This first tomato is called the king fruit and the last tomato to grow and ripen is called the tail fruit.
