5 Reasons To Check Out The Boston Local Food Festival on Sunday, September 18

If you love summer, September is a bittersweet time. With the kids back at school and the Halloween candy already on the shelves, it can be hard to savor the last few weeks of your favorite season. That’s why the Boston Local Food Festival on Sunday, September 18 from 11am – 5pm is such a treat! Located on the Rose Kennedy Greenway (the public walking garden that used to be Interstate 93), this annual event attracts over 60 different food producers, restaurants and food trucks – all of which will delight your taste buds. It’s a celebration of local food and the passionate people who grow or prepare it, and it’s the perfect way to enjoy these last beautiful days of the year.

If you need more convincing, here are 5 reasons why you should put the Boston Local Food Festival on your calendar for September 18.

IT’S FREE

That’s right. For the cost of exactly zero dollars, you can try dozens of delicious samples of everything from bread and chocolate to ice cream and cheese. There’s also live music, yoga lessons, and fun exhibits.

IT’S KID-FRIENDLY

In addition to the free samples and music, the little ones will love the interactive exhibits in the Kid Zone. If you want to make the most of your day in Boston, The New England Aquarium is also just minutes away!

IT’S EASY TO GET TO

In addition to celebrating local food, the Boston Local Food Festival is big on sustainability and zero waste. The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a short walk from South Station, as well as the Aquarium T-Stop, which gives locals and out-of-towners easy access by bus, by train and even by ferry!

AMAZING DIVERSITY OF FOOD

After a summer of lobster rolls, chowder and burgers, the Boston Local Food Festival is the perfect opportunity to shake up your palette. Chinese, Thai, Indian, Japanese, BBQ, vegan, shellfish, baked goods – there’s even caffeinated peanut butter! Best of all, every food item for sale or sample was grown, produced, or prepared locally so you can feel good about all the foods you try.

BACKYARD FARMS WILL BE THERE

This will be our third year at the Boston Local Food Festival and we’ll be bringing a full load of tomatoes to try and buy on the spot (at a very special festival price). We’ll have temporary tomato tattoos for the kids and a drawing for one of our ever-popular tomato tasting kits that comes complete with a cutting board, serrated edge knife, Fiore Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar, salt pepper and, of course, FREE tomato coupons.

Whether you live in Boston or need a fun reason for a road trip, we sincerely hope you’ll come see us at the Boston Local Food Festival on Sunday, September 18 from 11am – 5pm.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!
