Help Us Donate 5,000 lbs. Of Tomatoes To The Greater Boston Food Bank

At Backyard Farms, we’re dedicated to our communities. They have supported us over the past nine years and we try to give as much as we can in return.

Hunger in Our Communities

Unfortunately, a major issue in our communities is hunger. Those faced with this issue have limited access to fresh and healthy food options. Some don’t even know where their next meal will come from. We work closely with our local food banks in Maine and last year, we donated more than 500,000 lbs. of tomatoes to the Good Shepherd Food Bank to help address the hunger issue.

The issue is pervasive outside of Maine as well. In the Boston area, 1 in 9 people are at risk of hunger – an issue that cannot go overlooked.

With your help, we can make a difference. Starting January 14, we’re asking each of you to donate 10 lbs. of our delicious tomatoes to The Greater Boston Food Bank.  Let’s reach our goal of donating 5,000 lbs. of fresh fruit to our community – here’s how it works…

Tomato Donation

Beginning next Wednesday, we’ll host a digital donation on our Facebook page. All you need to do is go to the donation page, fill out some quick information, and press the “Donate” button. You’ll see your donation made in real time, adding 10 lbs. of fresh tomatoes to the donation tracker. You can make one donation between January 14 and January 23.

To make sure we reach our goal of donating 5,000 lbs. to The Greater Boston Food Bank, we’ll need your help sharing the donation page with your friends. After you make your donation, be sure to click the “Share” button to get the message out.

For now, “Like” us on Facebook and stay tuned for our donation announcement next Wednesday!

The Greater Boston Food Bank’s Super Hunger Brunch

We’ll announce our donation to The Greater Boston Food Bank by January 24th in time for their annual Super Hunger Brunch, a weekend-long initiative The Greater Boston Food Bank organizes to raise money to end hunger.

Over the weekend of January 24-25, if you have brunch at any of the participating restaurants, every dollar you spend will give three meals to people in need. Plus you’ll be enjoying our delicious tomatoes in certain dishes being offered at participating restaurants, as we’re donating our product for the event.

If you’d like to enjoy a delicious brunch in Boston and support a good cause, check out The Greater Boston Food Bank’s website for more information about the organization and the restaurants participating.
