Storage Tips
Our tomatoes come to you red and ripe. Here’s how to keep them fresher and tastier, longer.
Avoid the Fridge
The fridge is great for a lot of things. But not tomatoes. The cooler temps cause them to become mealy and lose their flavor. You’re better off keeping your tomatoes comfortable at room temperature.
Basket or Bowl
Place your Backyard Farms tomatoes in a basket or bowl to give them some much-needed air circulation. Line it with a layer of paper towels to cushion the tomatoes’ delicate skin.
Keep Your Tomatoes Just Ripe
Other fruits, such as bananas, peaches and nectarines, continue to ripen after you bring them home. To keep your tomatoes perfectly ripe, store them away from other ripening fruits, which could cause your tomatoes to ripen faster than you’d like.
