More Than Great Gas Mileage.
Food Miles refer to how far a product travels from where it is grown to the point of consumption. It is a major component of a grower’s carbon footprint and can act as a moderate indicator of how much of an environmental impact a food has. With this in mind, much of the produce found in stores today travels many miles before reaching your local grocer. Much of the nutrients and flavor have been lost during this time, as well.
We only ship our tomatoes within a day’s drive.
Because our tomatoes never travel far from our greenhouse, we can leave them on the vine as long as possible … until they’re perfectly red and ripe. After harvest, we send them off quickly—within about a day—so you can enjoy the fresh, just-picked-from-the-vine taste.
